Panel upgrades

A 100 amp panel from the eighties was never sized for two EVs, a heat pump and an induction range. We replace it with a 200 amp service, labeled breaker by breaker, with room to grow.

How long will it charge?

Pick your battery and the circuit we would install. The estimate uses plain physics: volts times amps, with a ten percent loss for the onboard charger.

Estimate only. Real charging tapers above 80 percent and your car's onboard charger sets the ceiling.

Two installs, annotated

A Level 2 charger on its own 60 amp circuit, mounted at cable height for the parking spot, not the wall stud.

B Conduit run kept off the drywall so the garage can still be finished later.

C Permit sticker inside the door. The city inspected it the next morning.

A modern kitchen with warm recessed lighting and under-cabinet LED strips at dusk
Fig. Kitchen, 2700 K, three zones on dimmers.

A Recessed cans laid out to the island and the walkway, spaced for even light, not to the joist bays.

B Under-cabinet strip on its own dimmer so prep light and dinner light are different scenes.

C Every lamp at 2700 K so nothing reads blue next to the pendant.

The safety inspection

Ninety minutes, six checks, a written report with photos the next business day. The fee is credited to any repair.

Panel upgrade, 200 APass

Two EVs and a new heat pump, and the old panel was maxed. They did the whole swap in a day, labeled everything, and the inspector signed off on the first visit.

EV charger, 48 APass

The quote listed the wire gauge and the breaker before anyone came out. Charger was mounted and charging by lunch, and the permit showed up in my email that night.

Marcus L., Leawood, KS

Rewire, 1962 ranchPass

Aluminum wiring in every bedroom. They mapped the drywall cuts on a floor plan first, so no surprises. The patches were small and the outlets finally have grounds.
